The National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified that Non-Resident Indian (NRI) candidates can use their passports as valid identity proof while applying for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2027. The clarification came after a candidate raised a query on the agency’s official X account, stating that they did not have an Aadhaar card, PAN card or Indian driving licence.

Responding to the query, NTA confirmed that NRI candidates can use their passports for identity verification during the JEE Main 2027 application process. The agency also advised candidates submitting fresh applications to refer to its public notices dated October 28 and October 30, 2026.

The clarification is expected to help NRI applicants who may not possess the other commonly used Indian identity documents required during registration.
