Jordan Pickford is England’s first-choice goalkeeper in FIFA World Cup 2026, and on Saturday (July 11), during their quarterfinal match against Norway at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, he entered his name in the history books. The ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 quarterfinal in Miami is Pickford’s 18th FIFA World Cup match for England. He now tops the list of players with the most matches in FIFA World Cup history for the Three Lions.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper has now played one more match for England in football’s biggest tournament than former goalkeeper Peter Shilton.
Peter Shilton represented England in the 1982, 1986, and 1990 editions of the FIFA World Cup and played 17 matches.
In the list of players with the most matches for England in the FIFA World Cup, Pickford and Shilton are followed by Harry Kane.
Kane, who is England’s highest goal-scorer in FIFA World Cup history, is also playing his 17th match on Saturday.
