A troubling incident has recently surfaced in Maharashtra’s Satara district, raising concerns among students and parents. It has been alleged that a sixth-grade girl was assigned to check Class 10 board exam papers, sparking serious questions about the state board exam evaluation process, according to Navbharat Times.

This event reportedly took place in the Phaltan tehsil of Satara district, where a teacher at Uttareshwar High School in Vidani is accused of using sixth-grade female students to check Class 10 exam papers. Rajesh Kshirsagar, chairman of the Kolhapur divisional SSC board, confirmed the incident.

Chairman Rajesh Kshirsagar stated that a high school teacher was accused of having younger students check the 10th-grade Marathi papers. A preliminary investigation validated the claims, and the board received CCTV footage that showed the teacher’s negligence. The footage reportedly shows the teacher, Vaibhav Shende, sitting with female students while checking answer sheets.

In response to this incident, there are demands for appropriate action against the teacher. The departmental board has acknowledged the matter and will take suitable action soon. However, the school administration has yet to issue an official statement.

Before the exams began, the board had instructed all schools to provide complete details of CCTV cameras installed at examination centres to enable live monitoring and prompt action in case of cheating or irregularities. Schools were directed to submit their CCTV connection login ID, admin ID, and password via a Google form.

Earlier, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) class 12 chemistry paper was reportedly shared on social media. A possible leak was reported after the class 12 Chemistry question paper was allegedly circulated on social media in Nagpur before the board exam was conducted. On February 12, an incident of alleged mass cheating occurred during a HSC exam in Maharashtra’s Sambhajinagar. Despite the presence of CCTV cameras, students were reportedly copying inside the examination hall.

The Maharashtra Board HSC exams started on February 10, and the SSC exams began on February 20. Both sets of exams will conclude on March 18, 2026.
