Maruti commences production at second Kharkhoda facility – Introduction

Maruti Suzuki has commenced production at its second plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana, which has an annual manufacturing capacity of 2.5 lakh units. The carmaker is currently manufacturing the Victoris and Brezza at the Kharkhoda facility. Notably, the first Kharkhoda plant has been in operation since February 2025 and has an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh units.

  1. Once fully operational, the Kharkhoda facility will have a capacity of 10 lakh units
  2. Maruti’s current annual production capacity across its plants is 26.5 lakh units

This move by Maruti Suzuki aligns with the manufacturer’s plans to add 5 lakh units of production capacity in FY27 (April 2026 to March 2027). Spread across 800 acres in the Sonipat district of Haryana, the Kharkhoda facility, with two plants in operation, currently has a manufacturing capacity of 5 lakh units. Once fully operational, the Kharkhoda plant will have a capacity to produce 10 lakh units annually, making it one of Suzuki’s largest four-wheeler manufacturing locations globally.

Currently, Maruti has a total production capacity of 26.5 lakh units across all its facilities in the country, including 5 lakh units at the Gurugram facility, 9 lakh units at Manesar, 7.5 lakh units at Hansalpur, and 5 lakh units at Kharkhoda. In April 2026, Maruti Suzuki also announced plans to expand its manufacturing capacity through the new Kharkhoda facility and an upcoming plant at its Gujarat site, with a combined investment of Rs 14,000 crore for both projects.
