Charles Barkley is happy to hand out chocolates to trick-or-treaters on Halloween. What he doesn’t want is kids showing up at his door with basketball cards for his signature. The NBA legend shared his grievance during a recent episode of Tip-Off, and the rest of the room laughed along.

Charles Barkley Urges Children Not To Bring In Basketball Cards

In the middle of the ongoing NBA games discussion, Barkley turned to Halloween traditions. “Okay man, let me tell you something,” he said. “You damn brats gotta quit bringing in basketball cards and stuff to my damn house. I am giving you free damn candy.”

He wasn’t finished. “I am not there to sign autographs all damn night. I am gonna let y’all get away with that this one damn time now.”

Co-hosts Shaquille O’Neal, Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith laughed, and some looked surprised. Barkley pressed on, softening a little before the punchline: “I love being home and giving kids the candy. I love that. But now they are bringing cards. I say yo man, you can’t be mean to kids. I wanted to punch him in the face, but I couldn’t do it.”

He closed by repeating his request: “Come on man, quit bringing cards to my house. I am giving you damn free candy. That’s what Halloween is for.”

Charles Barkley’s Statement Gains Fan Reactions

The clip went viral almost immediately, and the replies came with advice. One fan offered a workaround: “Gotta sign some cards before hand Chuck and hand em out with the candy.”

Another took the kid’s side of the story: “Imagine explaining to your parents while dressed as a minion that Barkley fought you over a basketball card.”

Not everyone was poking fun, though. Some fans backed Barkley, with one writing, “Honestly I understand.”
