North Indian cotton yarn sees mixed trend as raw cotton firms up

Cotton yarn prices showed a mixed trend in north India, with Ludhiana witnessing an increase amid rising cotton prices and improved buying interest. However, Delhi remained largely steady as weak consumer demand and payment constraints restricted price increases. Panipat’s recycled yarn market weakened due to sluggish export demand, while raw cotton prices firmed up amid reduced arrivals and consistent mill buying.

Cotton yarn prices increased by &#****;* (~$*.**) per kg in Ludhiana as demand improved amid rising cotton prices in domestic and international markets. Mills have also increased their selling rates by &#****;* (~$*.**) per kg because of stronger cotton prices. A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre*Fashion, “The present price rise in cotton yarn was mainly driven by supply-side factors. Buyers want to purchase raw materials before a further price rise. Rising ICE cotton directly influenced Indian cotton and yarn prices. Lower cotton production will restrict arrivals, and they may not cross a benchmark of **,*** bales.”

In Ludhiana, ** count combed cotton yarn was quoted at &#****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, inclusive of GST. Prices for ** count and ** count combed yarn stood at &#****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) and &#****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, respectively. The ** count carded variety was quoted at &#****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg.
