Pakistan Hockey Federation appoints Dutchman Herman Kruis as National Hockey Coaching Advisor, with three other foreign specialists, to revive its struggling hockey setup.

In a bid to revive its struggling hockey setup, the Pakistan Hockey Federation has appointed Dutchman Herman Kruis as National Hockey Coaching Advisor, alongside three foreign specialists.
Australia’s David Dayer has been named fitness coach, while Bob Veldoph will take charge of goalkeepers and Chris Bowen will serve as technical coach and sports psychologist. All three have signed two-year contracts and arrived in Lahore on Saturday, with the 70-year-old Kruis set to join them soon.
The PHF has also appointed Olympian Tahir Zaman as Director of High Performance.
Kruis, who has previously worked in India and the Netherlands, will focus on nurturing young talent and preparing national teams for major international assignments during his tenure.
Soon after their arrival, the foreign coaches met Tahir Zaman and PHF officials to outline a comprehensive roadmap for Pakistan hockey, covering short-term, medium-term and long-term development plans.
The move comes in the wake of Pakistan’s dismal showing in the recently concluded FIH Pro Hockey League, where the team failed to register a single win against top sides such as the Netherlands, Belgium, India, Spain, England, Germany and Australia.
With the FIH Hockey World Cup scheduled for next month, the PHF is hopeful that the inclusion of foreign expertise will help improve the team’s performance on the global stage.
