CWG medallists Dilip Gavit, Mohammad Basil and coach Pushpa NP allege misbehaviour by IOA media member Sarvesh Kedia in Glasgow.

Commonwealth Games gold and silver medallists Dilip Mahadu Gavit and Mohammad Basil Morssinganakathi have complained against an Indian Olympic Association media committee member, alleging misbehaviour by the concerned individual, according to a report in The Times of India.
The complaints were filed by Gavit, Basil and para athletics coach Pushpa NP, who was part of the Indian contingent in Glasgow. As per the report, Paralympic Committee of India CEO Rahul Swami has also lodged a similar complaint with the Sports Ministry and the IOA.
As per the report, the complaints have named Sarvesh Kedia, an IOA media committee member who travelled to Glasgow as one of India’s press attaches and was assigned to the chef de mission’s office.
As per the report, a heated argument broke out between Kedia and chief para athletics coach Satyanarayana over arrangements for athletes’ media interactions before they headed for mandatory dope control procedures.
The exchange escalated into a brief physical altercation before coaches and athletes stepped in to defuse the situation.
Kedia was among the 14 IOA officials accompanying India’s combined able-bodied and para athletes’ contingent.
According to the report, Pushpa alleged that Kedia ‘spoke loudly’ with medal winners Dilip Gavit, Basil and coaches, adding that the incident involved Kedia and Satyanarayana.
Pushpa requested the authorities to ensure that Kedia ‘isn’t involved in any para athletics media interaction’ in future and sought appropriate action against him.
The alleged incident occurred on Thursday, after Gavit set a Games record of 10.71 seconds to become the first Indian male para athlete to win a CWG athletics gold medal.
Basil followed with a season-best of 10.83 seconds to claim silver as India completed a historic 1-2 finish in the men’s T47 100m final.
According to the report, the incident upset several members of the para athletics contingent, leading athletes, coaches and PCI officials to file formal complaints with the Sports Ministry and the IOA seeking action.
