Taylor Swift divorce joke erupts after Travis Kelce’s SNL controversy© Instagram/ @killatrav
One tap on Instagram has the internet buzzing. Travis Kelce liked the “Saturday Night Live” clip of Shane Gillis’ monologue, and now Barstool Sports is joking about what it means for his marriage to Taylor Swift. Gillis drew heavy backlash after hosting the show on October 10. His joke about how women dress at the gym landed badly with critics and viewers. Kelce, though, appears to be backing his friend. The podcast crew had plenty to say about that.
Travis Kelce liked the Shane Gillis SNL monologue
Kelce’s like came after the episode aired, and fans noticed fast. Some posted screenshots on X and tagged Swift, who has spoken up for women’s rights throughout her career. That made the timing ripe for a joke.
On Barstool’s Son of a Boy Dad podcast, personality Rone asked a pointed question. “You think T-Swift is ever getting divorced in her life?” Co-host Lil Sasquatch answered with a laugh. “I think she— there’s a chance she’s probably already divorced,” he joked. “Cause KillaTrav, like Shane’s monologue.”
He then poked fun at the fans who were sending the screenshots. “That was hilarious. People were tweeting at Taylor Swift with a screenshot of him liking it,” he said. “It’s like, what do you think? You think Taylor Swift opens up Twitter? You think she’s on the Everything app?”
Barstool also shared the clip on X. It was a joke, plain and simple, and nobody on the show claimed the couple was in trouble.
Travis Kelce and Shane Gillis: a friendship with a Taylor Swift connection
The bond between the two men is real. Gillis made a surprise appearance at Tight End University in Nashville in June. Kelce hosts that yearly summit with George Kittle and Greg Olsen. Gillis joined the trio onstage and stayed for the celebrations after Swift performed.
That detail suggests Gillis has likely crossed paths with Swift too. It also hints at why Kelce did not think twice before hitting like. He was backing a pal in the middle of a storm.
Neither Kelce nor Swift has publicly commented on the reaction. For now, the story lives in podcast banter and screenshot threads.
