As Sanjay Leela Bhansali is set to wrap up production on the long-delayed film Love & War, the director will be moving to his highly anticipated upcoming film, a biopic on the legendary actress Madhubala.
According to a report by Mid-Day, Sanjay Leela Bhansali will move directly from his epic romance saga to the Madhubala biopic, starring Sara Arjun in the lead. As per the report, the film is scheduled to go on floors in September at Royal Palms in Goregaon. This is the same location where the director has been shooting the final song of Love & War, which is expected to wrap up next week.
“After the Love & War shoot concludes in August-end, the production design team of the Madhubala biopic will start work on transforming the space. The film is expected to roll in September,” the report stated.
The film is to be helmed by Darlings director Jasmeet K. Reen. The yet-to-be-titled film will explore the life and legacy of Madhubala, one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated stars. “Sara has started preparing for the role. Jasmeet wants to capture Madhubala’s personality, mannerisms, and the world she inhabited,” the report stated. Further details about the film still remain under wraps.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali Set To Wrap Up Love & War
Love & War marks Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s reunion with Ranbir Kapoor after they worked together on Ranbir’s debut film Saawariya. Set against a turbulent wartime backdrop, the film centers on an intense emotional love triangle. The story follows two strong-willed military officers, played by Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, who find themselves in a love triangle involving Alia Bhatt’s character. The film is set to hit theaters on January 21, 2027.
On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for the release of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1, which is slated for a November release. He also has Animal Park and Brahmastra Part 2 coming up next. Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt is set to play a parallel lead in Brahmastra Part 2.
Vicky Kaushal is expected to start working on his mythological action-drama Mahavatar.
