NEW DELHI: Tumkur Lok Sabha constituency, one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, is a significant political hub in southern India. The constituency currently encompasses eight Legislative Assembly segments and boasts a diverse population. As the 2024 Lok Sabha elections approach, voters in Tumkur are eagerly preparing to exercise their democratic rights.The prominent candidates vying for the seat include V Somanna from the Bharatiya Janata Party and SP Muddahanumegowda from the Indian National Congress.
According to the 2019 Lok Sabha Election statistics, Tumkur parliamentary seat has approximately 1608545 total voters. In the previous election, the constituency witnessed an impressive voter turnout of 77.43%. The upcoming polls in Tumkur are scheduled for April 26th (Phase 2), with the results set to be announced on June 4th.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, G S Basavaraj of the BJP emerged victorious in the Tumkur constituency, securing 596127 votes. His closest rival, JD(S)’s H D Devegowda, obtained 582788 votes. The total number of votes cast in the G S Basavaraj constituency amounted to 1245469.
