Turkiye’s consumer sectors lose momentum in April

Confidence levels in Turkiye’s services and retail trade sectors weakened in April 2026, according to the latest data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

The seasonally adjusted services confidence index fell 3.1 per cent month on month to 109.7, reflecting declines in business activity, demand and short-term expectations. The retail trade confidence index also dropped 1.8 per cent to 111.6, amid softer sales and stock indicators, TUIK said in a press release.

Services saw declines in business activity and demand, while retail sales over the past three months fell 2.5 per cent, signalling softer momentum across consumer-facing segments.

Retail indicators also showed moderation, with sales over the past three months down 2.5 per cent. Within services, business activity over the past three months declined 4.7 per cent, while demand-turnover expectations for the next three months fell 2 per cent.
