UP Board Results 2026: Every year, the UPMSP merit list draws interest not just for the ranks, but also for where these students come from and how close the scores are. While the 2026 topper list will be released along with the results, the last five years already show a fairly consistent pattern.

UP Board Toppers List 2026

Recent toppers and how close the scores have been

In 2025, the Class 10 topper was Yash Pratap Singh from Jalaun, who scored 97.83 percent. Just behind him were Anshi and Abhishek Kumar Yadav with 97.67 percent, followed by a cluster including Ritu Garg, Arpit Verma and Simran Gupta, all within a fraction of a percent.

In Class 12 that year, Mehak Jaiswal topped the state with 97.2 percent, while multiple students — including Sakshi, Adarsh Yadav, Shivani Singh and Anushka Singh — were close behind at 96.8 percent.

A similar pattern showed up in 2024. Prachi Nigam topped Class 10 with 591 out of 600, one of the highest scores in recent years, while Shubham Verma from Sitapur led Class 12 with 489 out of 500.

In 2023 as well, Priyanshi Soni from Sitapur topped Class 10 with 590 marks, and Shubh Chapra secured the top spot in Class 12 with 489 out of 500.

A trend that hasn’t changed much

If you go back to 2022 and earlier, the overall pattern looks surprisingly stable.

Top scores have consistently stayed in a narrow band — usually between 97 and 98 percent. That tells you something about how the exams are evaluated. There isn’t much fluctuation at the very top, and even a single mark can change rankings.

Another thing that stands out is how often ranks are shared. It’s no longer unusual to see two or three students tied at Rank 2 or Rank 3.

Not just big cities anymore

One of the more interesting shifts in recent years is where toppers are coming from.

A large number of top-ranked students are from smaller towns and districts rather than major cities. Places like Sitapur, Jalaun and others have regularly featured in the merit list, showing that high scores are no longer limited to urban centres.

Girls continue to feature strongly

Across the last few years, girls have consistently appeared in the top ranks — and often in higher numbers. In some years, they’ve dominated the merit list almost entirely.

This has also matched broader trends in pass percentages, where girls have been outperforming boys overall.

What to expect from the 2026 topper list

With results expected later today, the 2026 merit list is likely to follow a familiar pattern.

Top scores will probably be above 97 percent again. There may be multiple rank holders, and smaller districts could continue to feature prominently.

For now, though, the focus remains on the announcement itself. Once the results are out, the full list of toppers — along with their marks and districts — will be updated.
