The 2027 West Bengal Madhyamik examinations may be postponed due to the upcoming census work. The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has proposed a revised examination schedule, shifting the start date from February 15 to March 2. However, the revised dates are yet to receive approval from the state School Education Department.

As per the earlier schedule, the Madhyamik examinations were set to begin on February 15 and conclude on February 25. Under the new proposal, the examinations would be held from March 2 to March 16.

The board has sent the proposed schedule to the state School Education Department for approval. Confirming this, WBBSE president Lalu Das said, “We have sent it in the form of a proposal. The department will take the decision.”

According to the proposed timetable, the examinations would begin with the first language paper on March 2, followed by the second language paper on March 3 and History on March 5.

The remaining proposed schedule is as follows:

– Geography: March 8

– Mathematics: March 12

– Physical Science: March 13

– Life Science: March 15

– Optional elective subjects: March 16

The examinations are proposed to be held from 10:45 am to 2 pm each day. Candidates would get the first 15 minutes to read the question paper.

The proposed postponement is aimed at avoiding a clash between the Madhyamik examination schedule and census-related work. However, the dates are not final. The state School Education Department will take the final decision, and the board can announce the revised timetable only after receiving its approval.

Students and parents will have to wait for the department’s decision to know when the 2027 Madhyamik examinations will begin.
