The Xiaomi YU7 GT has set a new record for production SUVs by lapping the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 34.93 seconds. This new record makes the Chinese EV 1.76 seconds faster around the 20.832km German track than the Audi RS Q8 Performance, which was the previous record holder. In June 2024, Audi’s high-performance combustion-powered SUV finished the lap in 7 minutes and 36.69 seconds.

Xiaomi’s Nurburgring records
The record-setting YU7 GT was driven by Xiaomi’s chief test driver Ren Zhoucan, for whom this was the first outing at the Nurburgring. Xiaomi released the YU7 GT’s performance telemetry and on-board camera footage on May 19, 2026 – two days before debuting the electric SUV in its home country. The record-setting YU7 GT was fitted with the optional Track Package, as per Xiaomi. The brand’s previous car to hold a record at the Nurburgring is the SU7 Ultra. By setting a lap record of 7 minutes and 4.95 seconds on April 1, 2025, the high-performance electric sedan became the fastest production EV to lap the Nurburgring.
Xiaomi YU7 GT specifications
The Xiaomi YU7 GT’s 101.7kWh battery pack will power a dual-motor (AWD) setup with a maximum output of 990hp and a CLTC-certified range of 705km, as per Xiaomi’s filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The YU7 GT is also expected to have a top speed of 300kph and an 800-volt architecture supporting DC fast charging, enabling a 10-80 percent range top-up in 12 minutes. According to MIIT, the upcoming Xiaomi YU7 GT will be 5,015mm long, 2,007mm wide and 1,597mm tall, with a kerb weight of 2,460kg. The official debut of the Xiaomi YU7 GT is set for May 21, 2026, in China.
