Yami Gautam recently opened up about her relationship with husband and filmmaker Aditya Dhar during an appearance on Sony Marathi’s Kon Honar Crorepati. The actress, who joined Adinath Kothare on the show to promote their upcoming film Nayyi Navelli, shared insights into her love story with Aditya while interacting with host Madhuri Dixit. Yami also drew an interesting contrast between her husband’s work as a filmmaker and his personality in real life, describing him as someone who is ‘completely non-dramatic’.

Yami Gautam reveals husband Aditya Dhar is ‘completely non-dramatic’ in real life on Kon Honar Crorepati
During the conversation, Yami spoke about how watching Madhuri’s films influenced her understanding of romance while growing up. She recalled how the love stories on screen made her imagine what romance should look like, even as her own relationship turned out to be far more understated. “Watching your films, we would feel that this is what a love story should be like. Every girl dreams of something like that, a ‘palat, palat’ moment! But in reality, one thing Aditya and I have in common is that we are both very reserved, completely non-dramatic people,” she said.
Yami then revisited her first meeting with Aditya on the sets of Uri, the 2019 military action film directed by him and featuring her in a pivotal role. Although the two did not interact much during filming, the promotional campaign gave her an opportunity to understand his personality better. “Our first meeting was on the set of URI. We didn’t speak much on the film set, but during promotions, you listen to everyone’s answers. That was when I felt that here was someone whose core values and family values were very similar to mine. That is something I really loved about Aditya. On set, I had already seen the kind of person he is, and that is very rare to find. He never got angry with anyone, respected everyone, and was very passionate and very centered,” Yami shared.
Madhuri responded warmly to the actress’s description, saying, “Just like you.” Reflecting on the importance of finding a partner with shared values, Yami added, “If you find that kind of partner, it is a very big thing. I’m very lucky to have him as my husband.”
The candid exchange offered a glimpse into Yami and Aditya’s relationship, which began with their collaboration on Uri and eventually culminated in marriage in 2021. Their story, as described by the actress, is rooted less in grand romantic gestures and more in mutual respect, shared values and a quiet understanding.
The special episode of Kon Honar Crorepati featuring Yami Gautam and Adinath Kothare airs Monday to Saturday at 9 PM on Sony Marathi and Sony LIV.
