The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur has launched a unique two-year MBA in Public Policy and Governance, supported by the Chief Minister’s Good Governance Fellowship (CMGGF) — a flagship initiative by the Government of Chhattisgarh aimed at nurturing future-ready policy professionals.
This newly introduced programme, which will admit 36 students, blends rigorous academic learning with practical governance exposure to equip young leaders with the tools to address real-world policy challenges. Under the CMGGF scheme, the entire tuition fee will be borne by the Chhattisgarh Government. In addition, selected students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 50,000, along with boarding and lodging during academic sessions at IIM Raipur’s campus — ensuring financial accessibility for talented individuals from across the state.
“This is a pioneering step toward inclusive development,” said Professor Ram Kumar Kakani, Director of IIM Raipur. “At IIM Raipur, we firmly believe that effective public policy forms the bedrock of nation-building. With this MBA, we intend to groom the next generation of governance professionals with the right mix of analytical capabilities, ethics, and field experience.”
The curriculum will feature classroom learning at IIM Raipur’s state-of-the-art campus, complemented by field training with various departments of the Chhattisgarh Government. Students will gain expertise in policy design, governance models, leadership, and evidence-based decision-making.
Eligibility Criteria:
– Domicile of Chhattisgarh
– Valid CAT score from 2022, 2023, or 2024
– Graduate degree with at least 60% marks (55% for reserved categories) or equivalent CGPA in line with the state’s reservation policy.

Graduates of the programme will be well-positioned for impactful roles in government departments, public sector undertakings, think tanks, consultancy firms, and development organisations — with many likely to be absorbed into governance roles within Chhattisgarh itself.
This initiative underlines IIM Raipur’s growing role as a catalyst for public policy reform and innovation in Central India.
