The Hycross and Invicto share their platform and powertrain as well as the basic equipment list.
I currently own a Honda Amaze, but I am looking to upgrade to a larger MPV. In my city, I am getting the top-spec Maruti Suzuki Invicto Alpha+ at Rs 3 lakh cheaper than the Toyota Innova Hycross VX. Is the Innova Hycross worth the premium, or should I just get the Invicto, instead?

Autocar India says: The Maruti Suzuki Invicto and the Toyota Innova Hycross are essentially the same vehicle under the skin — they share the same platform, powertrain, and basic features. However, the Hycross commands a higher price and stronger demand primarily due to the Toyota badge, which carries greater brand equity and a reputation for long-term durability.
In terms of day-to-day ownership experience, both are similar. Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are both known for their reliability, ease of maintenance, and strong service networks — so you won’t go wrong with either on that front.
That said, resale value is where the Hycross has a clear edge. Being a Toyota, its value is likely to hold up significantly better over time, while the Invicto may depreciate faster. So, although the Invicto Alpha+ is Rs 3 lakh cheaper today, you could lose most of that advantage when it’s time to sell or upgrade.
If you’re looking for short-term value and plan to keep the car for a long time, the Invicto is a solid deal. But if resale and long-term brand strength are important to you, the Hycross VX is worth the extra investment.
