Ligue 1 side Marseille announced that they had reached an agreement in principle with English international Angel Gomes on Thursday.
The 24-year-old Englishman, who joined Lille in 2020 from Premier League side Manchester United, is set to make the switch with his contract with Lille coming to an end at the close of the month.

The former United player made over a century of appearances for Lille and has found the back of the net 10 times since his arrival at the French unit.
“Olympique de Marseille announces that it has reached an agreement in principle with Angel Gomes for the arrival of the English international midfielder at the club,” the club posted.

Gomes is set to join fellow United academy product Mason Greenwood, who finished the previous season as the joint-top scorer in the league with 21 goals in the season, tied with champion PSG’s Ousmane Dembele.

Gomes helped Lille to a French Super Cup win in the year 2021/22, and has managed to make four appearances for England on the international front.

Gomes made his senior debut for United in 2017 before opting to make a switch to Lille for more game time in 2020. He was loaned out to Portuguese unit Boavista in the 2020/21 season before returning to France. He earned his first England senior team call up in the year 2024 and has made four appearances for the Three Lions to date.
