Kia India is gearing up to launch the Syros EV in August this year, our sources have indicated. Upon launch, it will be the brand’s smallest and most affordable EV India and will be pitted directly against the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. Like its rivals, the Syros EV will be an ICE-to-EV conversion, albeit with its own EV-specific styling and feature updates.

Kia Syros EV: what to expect?
The Syros EV has already been spied testing on our roads on a couple of occasions, and even though the test mules were heavily camouflaged, it seemed largely unchanged from the ICE version. It’s expected to carry over the same quirky styling with a boxy silhouette and tallboy stance. Spy shots have indicated at the presence of a charging flap on the passenger side front fender, it’s expected to get unique front and rear bumpers, and perhaps it could get unique alloy wheels, too. However, don’t expect it to deviate too far from the ICE versions, as is the case with the Carens Clavis and its EV counterpart.
On the inside, expect the dashboard to remain largely unchanged. The feature list, too, could be similar, save for the likely addition of some EV-specific offerings such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) capabilities. However, it remains to be seen if the Syros EV is offered with ADAS, since the same was removed from the ICE Syros with its 2026 model year update. It could also perhaps get EV-specific displays and different trim and upholstery.
Kia Syros EV powertrain and battery
The Kia Syros EV will be underpinned by the same K1 platform that’s forms the basis of the ICE-powered Syros. Technical details are scarce currently, but we know it will come with a front-wheel drive configuration. Internationally, the K1 platform also underpins the Inster EV which gets 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs. The India-spec Syros EV can be expected with battery packs of similar capacity.
The Syros EV was originally expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2026, which means it has been delayed by about six months. However, it will be still be arriving within one and half years of the launch of the ICE-powered version.
The Kia Syros EV is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) and rival the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
