Ather Rizta crosses 3 lakh sales milestone in India – Introduction

Launched in April 2024, the family-focused Ather Rizta now accounts for over three-fourths of the company’s total e-scooter volumes. The Ather Rizta has crossed the 3 lakh unit wholesale milestone in India, just over two years after its launch on April 6, 2024. The family electric scooter has rapidly become the backbone of Ather Energy’s portfolio and played a key role in the company emerging as India’s third-largest electric two-wheeler OEM behind TVS Motor Company and Bajaj Auto.

  1. Ather dispatched 1 lakh units of the Rizta in just 10 months since its launch
  2. In the first month of FY27, the Rizta accounted for 77 percent of the brand’s monthly dispatches
  3. Ather is also developing a new EL-platform for its future electric scooters

Rizta now accounts for 76 percent of Ather sales

The Rizta helped Ather expand beyond premium buyers

Estimated cumulative Rizta wholesales from FY2025 through April 2026 stand at 309,501 units. Deliveries for the scooter had begun in July 2024, with the first 1 lakh units dispatched in a little over 10 months. The 2 lakh units milestone followed in October 2025, while the latest 3 lakh units mark was achieved by the end of April 2026.

The Rizta’s contribution to Ather’s overall e-scooter volumes has grown sharply in the past year. In FY2025, the scooter accounted for 58 percent of Ather’s total dispatches, with 89,639 units sold out of 155,405 units overall.

That share rose to 76 percent in FY2026 as Rizta sales grew 121 percent year-on-year, helping Ather post record annual volumes of 2,60,070 electric scooters. In April 2026, the first month of FY2027, the Rizta is estimated to have contributed 77 percent of Ather’s total monthly dispatches.

The scooter also played a major role in Ather’s quarter-on-quarter growth through FY2026. The company’s best quarter came in Q4 FY2026, when it dispatched 82,929 scooters, of which the Rizta alone contributed 64,159 units.

Ather’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model has also improved affordability. The Rizta S, which is priced at Rs 1.17 lakh ex-showroom Bengaluru with the battery included, can be bought at a lower upfront cost of Rs 76,000 under the BaaS scheme.

The Rizta’s success has also coincided with Ather’s broader expansion plans. The company is developing a new EL platform for future electric scooters across commuter, family and performance segments, while also working on a separate Zenith platform for electric motorcycles aimed at the 125-300cc class.

Ather is additionally set to significantly ramp up manufacturing capacity. Alongside its existing Hosur facilities in Tamil Nadu, the company is building a new plant at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar with an annual capacity of one million units. Once operational, Ather’s total production capacity is expected to rise to 1.42 million units annually.
