The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has released the detailed notification for the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2026. Candidates who qualify for STET will be eligible to appear for the upcoming BPSC Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE 4).
Candidates can apply online for Bihar STET 2026 from August 17 to August 31, 2026. The examination fee must also be paid within the same period. Candidates should visit the official application website: stateregistration.cbtexam.in. The STET qualifying certificate will have lifetime validity.
The examination will be conducted at two levels:
Paper 1 – Classes 9 to 10: Subjects include Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, Bengali, Maithili, Persian, Bhojpuri, English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science. The paper also includes subjects such as Physical Education, Music, Fine Arts, Dance and Special School Teacher.
Paper 2 – Classes 11 to 12: Subjects include Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Bengali, Maithili, Magahi, Arabic, Persian, Bhojpuri, Pali, Prakrit, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Philosophy, Computer Science, Agriculture and Music.
Bihar STET 2026 Age Limit
The candidate must be at least 21 years old as of August 1, 2026.
The maximum age limit is as follows:
General category male: 37 years
General category female: 40 years
BC/EBC: 40 years
SC/ST: 42 years
Educational Qualification for STET Paper 1
Candidates must have a graduation or postgraduate degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks, along with a B.Ed. qualification.
Under NCTE regulations, candidates with 45% marks in certain cases may also be eligible. Candidates holding a four-year B.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. degree can also apply.
Educational Qualification for STET Paper 2
Candidates must have a postgraduate degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed. qualification. In certain cases, candidates with 45% marks may also be eligible.
Candidates with a four-year B.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. or a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. degree can also apply.
A B.Ed. qualification is not mandatory for Computer Science candidates. Eligible qualifications include BE/BTech in Computer Science or IT, MCA, M.Sc. Computer Science, and DOEACC A/B Level qualifications.

Candidates applying for Mathematics, Science and Social Science must meet the prescribed subject-combination requirements at the undergraduate level.
Similarly, specific postgraduate subject combinations have been prescribed for subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Commerce and Economics under Paper 2.
The STET examination will consist of 150 objective-type questions carrying a total of 150 marks. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers. If the examination is conducted in multiple shifts, marks will be normalised to maintain consistency across shifts.
The syllabus for Paper 1 will be based on the graduation level, while Paper 2 will follow the postgraduate level syllabus of State Universities.
Bihar STET 2026 Application Fee
For one paper, General/EWS/BC/EBC candidates need to pay Rs 960 while SC/ST/Divyang category candidates need to pay Rs 760. For both papers, General/EWS/BC/EBC candidates need to pay Rs 1,440, SC/ST/Divyang will have to pay Rs 1,140.
How to Apply for Bihar STET 2026
Candidates must first register using their mobile number and email address. After registration, they need to enter their personal and academic details, upload the required documents and pay the application fee online.
Candidates must upload a recent colour photograph with a white or light-coloured background. The signature should be made on white paper using black ink and uploaded in the prescribed format.
Candidates should check the official STET notification carefully for the latest eligibility conditions, document specifications and application requirements before submitting the form.
