BMW F 450 GS India launch: everything you need to know
The F 450 GS is available in three variants
The F 450 GS lineup is spread across three variants – Base, Exclusive and GS Trophy – with differentiation based on features and components. However, it’s core engine remains unaltered irrespective of the variant and it comes powered by a 420cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine producing 48hp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm at 6,750rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. It also gets BMW’s Shift Assistant Pro for clutchless upshifts and downshifts standard from the Exclusive variant.
The bike has a kerb weight of 178kg and is underpinned by a KYB upside-down fork and monoshock that is adjustable for preload and rebound, while braking duties are handled by a Brembo front setup and a Bybre rear unit, supported by ABS Pro for safe braking even when leaning. Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) and Dynamic Brake Light are additional safety features that are offered from the Base variant.
In terms of features, the F 450 GS comes equipped with a 6.5-inch TFT display with connectivity, heated grips and adjustable levers. It also gets BMW’s Easy Ride Clutch, which is standard on the Trophy variant and can be retrofitted to other trims.
The bike is offered in three variants – Basic, Exclusive and GS Trophy – here’s a short variant differentiation.
BMW F 450 GS Basic is the base variant that offers a 6.5-inch TFT dash, all-LED lights, heated grips, ABS Pro, engine drag torque control, Traction control, adjustable rear-brake lever, adjustable clutch and brake lever.
BMW F 450 GS Exclusive includes off-road foot pegs, hand guards, engine guard, Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro and a clear windshield over and above the features on the Basic variant.
BMW F 450 GS Trophy includes off-road foot pegs, white hand guards, Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, tinted Rallye windshield, sport suspension, an aluminium engine guard and Easy Ride Clutch.
The F 450 GS carries typical GS styling cues with a tall stance and ADV bodywork, and features quad-LED DRLs inspired by the flagship R 1300 GS. BMW is also offering a range of optional accessories including cross-spoke wheels, multiple windscreen options, luggage systems, handlebar risers and different seat configurations.
Starting at Rs 4.70 lakh for the Base variant, Rs 4.90 lakh for the Exclusive variant and topping out at Rs 5.30 lakh for the GS Trophy variant. The F 450 GS enters India as BMW’s most accessible GS offering, combining a twin-cylinder engine, relatively low kerb weight and a comprehensive feature set. At this price point, it closest rival is the Honda NX500 but it also goes up against single-cylinder rivals such as the KTM 390 Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
