Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party and Congress over their remarks on the Ram temple embezzlement issue, accusing them of targeting Hindu faith while staying silent on Waqf-related matters.
Addressing a gathering in Pratapgarh, Yogi said, “Why do those who attack Hindu faith have their mouths sealed with Fevicol in the name of Waqf? The real pain of the SP and Congress is that where they wanted to see the symbol of slavery, the Babri structure, a temple of Lord Ram has been built instead.”
He also compared the Opposition parties to a chameleon, saying they “change colours” according to political needs.
Yogi Targets Opposition
The Chief Minister made the remarks while inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for 111 development projects worth over Rs 384 crore in Pratapgarh and Vishwanath Ganj constituencies.
Yogi said the SP and Congress had no new issues and were only focusing on caste politics and attacks on faith. “The SP and Congress have no new issue. They are left with only two issues – division in the name of caste and attacks on faith,” he said.
He accused the parties of opposing the development of Uttar Pradesh and said they were unhappy with the changes in Ayodhya, including improved roads, rail connectivity and new facilities for devotees.
“The Congress and SP, which supported the Babri structure in Ayodhya, have changed their colours like a chameleon. They are now claiming that faith is being insulted in Ayodhya. Since when have they developed faith in Ayodhya?” Yogi said.
The Chief Minister also raised the issue of Waqf properties and accused the Opposition of remaining silent over alleged irregularities. He claimed that thousands of hectares of land belonging to poor and weaker sections had been sold in the name of Waqf.
“Why are the mouths of Congress and SP sealed with Fevicol in the name of Waqf?” he asked, adding that the state government would continue to act against wrongdoing based on evidence.
CM Highlights Development Work
During his address, Yogi also spoke about development projects and government schemes in the state. He said Pratapgarh had witnessed major changes in connectivity, healthcare and employment opportunities.
Yogi said the government had created more employment opportunities for young people and claimed that earlier governments had failed to provide jobs fairly.
“Earlier, the Saifai family used to loot jobs meant for the youth and auction them off, depriving meritorious candidates of employment,” he said.
The Chief Minister also said the government was working with the aim of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and claimed that Uttar Pradesh had moved away from its earlier image of being a backward state.
