For B.Tech students, placements are an important factor when choosing a college. Students and parents often look at the companies that recruit from an institute, the number of students placed and the salaries offered after graduation. While the IITs are often associated with high-paying campus placements, NIT Rourkela has also reported strong placement figures this year, with one B.Tech student receiving an annual package of Rs 1.31 crore.

According to placement data released by NIT Rourkela, the highest annual package offered to a B.Tech student this placement season was Rs 1.31 crore. The average annual package stood at Rs 15.33 lakh, while the median package was Rs 12.50 lakh.

More than 83 students received annual packages exceeding Rs 30 lakh, according to the institute.

The B.Tech placement rate stood at 95.47%, meaning nearly 95 out of every 100 students who participated in the placement process received job offers. A total of 1,340 placement offers were made during the placement season.

Besides full-time job offers, 364 students received six-month internship offers, while 258 pre-final-year students secured summer internship opportunities.

A total of 374 companies participated in NIT Rourkela’s placement drive this year, with nearly half making their first appearance at the institute’s campus recruitment process.

The software and IT sector accounted for the largest share of participating companies, followed by manufacturing, banking and finance, electronics and education.

Students received offers across a range of job profiles, including Software Engineer, Software Development Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Graduate Trainee Engineer, Data Analyst and Business Analyst.

The institute said around 41.69% of the total job offers came from the core sector.

NIT Rourkela students also secured internship opportunities with competitive stipends. The highest monthly internship stipend offered to engineering students was Rs 1.50 lakh.

According to the institute, the placement outcomes reflect students’ performance as well as the efforts of its Career Development Center in facilitating recruitment and internship opportunities.
