North India cotton yarn steady amid weak demand, cautious buying

Cotton yarn prices continued to witness sluggishness in north India. Prices were hovering near the previous closing levels in the Delhi and Ludhiana markets. Payment constraints, weak domestic demand and cautious buying ahead of the arrivals discouraged buying from the weaving industry. Panipat’s recycled yarn market also witnessed limited buying as manufacturers held sufficient stocks for festival demand and remained uncertain about home-textile exports. North Indian cotton prices were stable amid demand from smaller spinning mills.

Cotton yarn prices remained stable in Ludhiana, although the market retained a bearish tone amid payment constraints and slow domestic demand. Spinning mills are also facing slow demand from the export market. A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre*Fashion, “The recent decline in ICE cotton discouraged buying from foreign importers. Domestic demand was also sluggish as the market is facing payment constraints.”
