Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar, who will soon take the mantle of Chief Minister, revealed that a low-profile swearing-in ceremony has been planned in Bengaluru’s Lok Bhavan on July 3 to avoid chaos in the capital city.
He told reporters that the ceremony will be broadcast live at the KPCC headquarters, as the party is unable to accommodate all leaders at the oath-taking site. When asked if other leaders would be sworn in with him, Shivakumar said, “That I don’t know; whatever the party high command decides will be done.”
DK Shivakumar’s road to the Chief Minister’s chair was cleared after the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) unanimously elected as the leader. Outgoing CM Siddaramaiah, who resigned on May 28, proposed his name as the next Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Karnataka Congress To Set Up 100 Offices
Shivakumar also revealed that the party has decided to set up 100 offices in the state to mark the centenary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi presiding over the 1924 Belagavi session of the Indian National Congress.
“After the swearing-in ceremony, I am requesting Rahul ji and Mallikarjun Kharge ji to come here and lay the foundation if they agree. I am extending this invitation. We cannot inaugurate all 100 offices at the same time, so we are laying the foundation in phases. This is my request regarding the land and related arrangements,” he said.
Since the Congress’s victory in the 2023 Assembly elections, there had been a persistent talk of a power-sharing arrangement between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, which would involve a transfer of power after 2.5 years.
