Double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has said that she is hurting after exiting the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games without a medal, adding that playing three matches in less than a day took a toll on her body, even as fans keep hitting out at the organisers for bizarre match timings.
Sindhu is ‘hurting’ after an agonising Asian Games exit, but the disappointment has just strengthened the two-time Olympic medallist’s resolve to achieve more. Sindhu vowed to work on her shortcomings, insisting that ‘one painful result cannot define a journey that means so much’.
Sindhu’s campaign ended with a quarterfinal loss to China’s Chen Yufei on Sunday, September 27, despite the two-time Olympic medallist coming within three points of closing out the match.
Sindhu went down 21-11, 18-21, 10-21.
“I needed a little time to put this into words. My Asian Games campaign is over and I am hurting,” Sindhu tweeted on Sunday night.

Sindhu acknowledged that long, demanding rallies at crucial moments once again proved decisive, just as they had during her recent campaign in China.
“Three matches in 18 hours. Back at 3 am, out again at 8:30 am. It took a toll. But after a camp that gave me every reason to believe, I wanted so much more,” Sindhu said.
Rather than allowing the disappointment to define her campaign, the star Indian shuttler has already shifted her focus to addressing the shortcomings that surfaced under pressure.
“I am hurting, but that is okay. I am glad it still means enough to hurt this much. I still want this,” Sindhu said.
