South India cotton yarn firm on tight supply; Mumbai sees uptick

Mumbai cotton yarn market witnessed price rise of &#****;** per kg in the last ** days. Although, there was thin trade today as most of trading establishments were closed on account of Maharashtra day. A trader from Mumbai told Fibre*Fashion, “Spinning mills are focusing on export market. They are supplying cotton yarn as per market requirement. Local market is facing short supply of most of counts and varieties of cotton yarn. Clearly, spinners are controlling cotton yarn market. Power looms are facing serious challenges on raw material supply and finished goods demand front.”

In Mumbai, ** carded yarns of warp and weft varieties were traded at &#****;*,****,*** (~$**.****.**) and &#****;*,****,*** per * kg (~$**.****.**) (excluding GST), respectively. Other prices include ** combed warp at &#****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, ** carded weft at &#****;*,****,*** (~$**.****.**) per *.* kg, **/** carded warp at &#****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, **/** carded warp at &#****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, and **/** combed warp at &#****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg, according to trade sources.
