Digital travel platform Agoda has released insights into the most-used search filters by Indian travellers in 2026, highlighting evolving accommodation preferences shaped by comfort, convenience, and flexibility. The analysis, based on user activity across its platform, reflects how travellers are becoming more deliberate in their booking decisions.
Accommodation type emerged as the most important factor, accounting for 26 per cent of all filter activity among Indian users. This places India above the Asia-wide average of 19 per cent , indicating a stronger emphasis on selecting the right type of stay, whether hotels, resorts, or alternative accommodations.
Review scores also play a significant role in decision-making, with filters for properties rated 7 and above accounting for 13 per cent of search activity. This trend points to a clear preference for quality assurance and reliable guest experiences.
Dining options remain a key consideration. Breakfast-inclusive stays ranked as the second most-used filter at 14 per cent , reflecting demand for convenience and value. Dinner-inclusive options also feature among the top filters, suggesting that food-related amenities influence booking decisions throughout the travel experience.
In addition, Indian travellers are prioritising amenities that enhance comfort. Features such as swimming pools and bathtubs are among the top filters, indicating a focus on relaxation and overall stay quality.
Flexibility continues to be a critical factor in travel planning. Filters such as free cancellation and pay-at-hotel options rank among the most-used, highlighting a preference for reduced financial risk and adaptable booking arrangements. Location scores and car parking facilities also feature prominently, reflecting practical considerations linked to accessibility and travel convenience.
Gaurav Malik, Country Director, Indian Subcontinent & Indian Ocean Islands at Agoda, said, “In 2026, Indian travellers are becoming more intentional in how they choose their stays. Searches show a clear focus on accommodation type, breakfast-included options and highly rated properties, alongside flexible booking features such as pay-at-hotel and free cancellation. Agoda’s easy-to-use search filters and wide range of accommodation choices, amenities, locations and more enable travellers to find the perfect stay based on individual needs and wants.”
