Ranthambore Tiger Reserve: 101 safari vehicles penalised for over speeding, 15 for GPS violations in R’bore, ETTravelWorld

Ranthambore Tiger Reserve authorities have penalised 101 safari vehicles for overspeeding and barred 15 more for operating with inactive GPS systems, citing risks to tourist safety and wildlife protection.

Orders issued by the deputy conservator of forests (Tourism) said the speeding violations were detected through GPS monitoring between March 12 and April 7. An official said, “Vehicles found exceeding the prescribed speed limit of 40 kmph during park rounds have been barred from entry into the reserve until further orders. Vehicles found operating within the limit but flagged for minor deviations have been issued a first warning.”

In a separate order dated April 13, the department identified 15 safari vehicles with inactive GPS systems during park visits, calling it a direct violation of mandatory tracking rules. “These vehicles have been prohibited from entering the park until their GPS systems are restored and verified,” the order said.

A forest official said, “Both overspeeding and inactive GPS systems pose a significant risk by compromising monitoring, tourist safety and wildlife protection.” The department has directed vehicle owners and drivers to follow the rules and warned that repeat violations could lead to denial of entry, blacklisting and cancellation of vehicle registration.
